7 Unforgettable Exchange Moments

The Exchange Conference has a storied history as a conference that drives insights, ideas, and discussion. With Exchange 2025 right around the corner, here are seven unforgettable Exchange moments from the last few years.

Ian Bremmer Delivers a Keynote of Legend

There’s a reason Ian Bremmer is returning to do a keynote presentation in Exchange 2025. His 2023 keynote was full electric. Covering a wide range of topics, Bremmer’s insights contained enormous depths of actionable information. Advisors who witnessed the keynote certainly had a leg up on the broader global events that have shaped the world in the past couple of years.

The Future of Finance Is an Unforgettable Exchange Moment

One of the most legendary panels of Exchange history, the Future of Finance in 2023 featured a murderer’s row of ETF thinkers and experts. VettaFi’s Dave Nadig moderated the discussion, which included ReSolve Asset Management CIO Adam Butler, Quill CEO and Chief Strategist Danielle DiMartino Booth, Simplify’s Mike Green, Tumelo’s Georgia Stewart, KCP’s Tom Morgan, and Bianco Research’s Jim Bianco. They experts dug deep into institutional failure, the polycrisis, and more.

Cathie Wood Packs the House

ARK’s founder Cathie Wood was interviewed by none other than Bob Pisani in Exchange 2021. A controversial figure, Wood shared her insights on innovation and conviction in the interview, which occurred even as her flagship fund was navigating the roughest patch of its history.

Barse Breakdowns the ABC’s of High Net Worth Clients

Exchange is known for its experts, and nobody is more of an expert on what a financial advisor needs to do than another financial advisor. Vance Barse directly tackled the topic of being a better advisor as he explored how to approach and manage high net worth clients. The wide-ranging panel featured nuanced, technical advice on trust structures, practice management strategies, and where the advisor fits in the ecosystem of allied professionals such as attorneys, realtors, insurance agents, and CPAs.

The ETF Quiz Show

In the last Exchange, Todd Rosenbluth and Lara Crigger hosted an ETF game show that pitted three pairs of ETF experts against each other. VettaFi’s Cinthia Murphy (then representing ETF Think Tank) and ETF Prime Host Nate Geraci squared off against NYSE’s Douglas Yones and Bloomberg’s Katie Greifeld as well as Nasdaq’s Alison Doyle and Bloomberg’s Eric Balchunas. Accordingly, the true winners were the advisors in attendance.

Exchange Rings the Bell

Not every highlight of Exchange happens at Exchange. On January 24, the Exchange conference rang the bell at Nasdaq. The portfolio manager of the Fairlead Tactical Sector ETF (TACK) Katie Stockton said at the event, “As a relative newcomer to the world of ETFs, the educational offerings and networking opportunities at Exchange are invaluable.”

The First Exchange

Pilot episodes for TV shows are often uneven. The concepts might be there, but the actors, designers, and writers are still trying to gel and determine how the thing comes together. But Exchange’s introduction to the finance world was promising right off the bat. For starters, the tradition of advisors being front and center for the conference began, crypto debates raged, and an Emmy award-winning Super Bowl star had a keynote.
