This comes in the wake of a speech given by former President Barack Obama last week, in which he claimed credit for the current economic expansion. However, Hassett asserted that his appearance at the press conference Monday was not motivated by Obama’s speech.
Trump himself fired back at Obama’s claim in a Tweet last week.
“‘President Trump would need a magic wand to get to 4% GDP,’ stated President Obama. I guess I have a magic wand, 4.2%, and we will do MUCH better than this! We have just begun,” Trump tweeted.
