Philippine stocks currently traded at a slightly higher multiple than their Thai counterparts and are about inline with Indonesia, two markets against which the Philippines is frequently compared.

A more relaxed Duterte could also prompt foreign investors to revisit Philippine equities.

“President Duterte has since tempered back his rhetoric and said that the Philippines will continue to be an ally of the US. He sees Philippines as trying to assert their independence, whilst still promoting good trade relations with all. The plus side of winning back China is that the Philippines will stand to benefit enormously from trade with China,” adds Seeking Alpha.
