For instance, ETF investors can choose from a number of Treasury bond-related funds, including the iShares 7-10 Year Treasury Bond ETF (NYSEArca: IEF), Schwab Intermediate-Term U.S. Treasury ETF (NYSEArca: SCHR), Vanguard Intermediate-Term Government Bond ETF (NYSEArca: VGIT) and SPDR Barclays Intermediate Term Treasury ETF (NYSEArca: ITE).
While the S&P 500 Index declined about 3.8% over the past three months, IEF rose 3.3%, SCHR gained 2.2%, VGIT added 2.1% and ITE was up 1.4%.
IEF has a 7.62 year duration and a 1.80% 30-day SEC yield. SCHR has a 5.2 year duration and a 1.39% 30-day SEC yield. VGIT has a 5.2 year duration and a 1.40% 30-day SEC yield. ITE has a 3.83 year duration and a 1.04% 30-day SEC yield.
