Last year, only India and China generated positive returns among the BRIC nations, while Russia and Brazil were two of the five worst performers in emerging world, according to MSCI data.
The countries found in EWEM’s new benchmark are Brazil, Chile, China, Colombia, Czech Republic, Egypt, Greece, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, Peru, Philippines, Poland, Qatar, Russia, South Africa, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, and United Arab Emirates.
