To Japan With Fundamentals

The research firm notes QJPN outpaced the rival cap-weighted iShares MSCI Japan ETF (NYSEArca: EWJ) from the time the former debuted through the end of the third quarter.

Although it is not a currency hedged ETF, QJPN is highly levered to the Japanese exporter story as a combined 41.6% of its weight is allocated to consumer discretionary and industrial stocks.

QJPN has nearly $6 million in assets under management, but S&P Capital IQ points out the ETF’s bid/ask spread is just three cents, indicating sufficient liquidity from the ETF’s 272 holdings. The new ETF, which charges 0.3% per year, is rated overweight by S&P Capital IQ.
