“There’s buyers because we look cheap to Europe, buyers because people think the economy will continue to fail indefinitely, and if the Fed raises rates it will only fail more,” Thomas Roth, senior Treasury trader at Mitsubishi UFJ Securities USA Inc., said in the article. “People are willing to be long Treasuries.”

Meanwhile, the gap between short- and long-term U.S. Treasury yields are narrowing, with yields on short-term Treasuries maturing in two to five years touching their highest level since 2011, the Wall Street Journal reports.

The iShares Barclays 1-3 Year Treasury Bond Fund (NYSEArca: SHY) was relatively flat Friday.
