ETF Chart of the Day: Dollar Darlings

At some point, perhaps traders will embrace UUPT (PowerShares DB 3X Long U.S. Dollar Index Futures ETN, Expense Ratio 0.95%) as a directional trading vehicle if not a hedge, as well as its sister ETN UDNT (PowerShares DB 3X Short U.S. Dollar Index Futures ETN, Expense Ratio 0.95%) as these ETNs only have $3.5 million and $1.6 million in AUM respectively, which is almost an absurdly low amount for what seem like trade-able products that would be of some utility to aggressive Currency/Macro focused managers and hedgers alike.

And, for the “Doubting Thomas” crowd concerning the recent Dollar rally, UDN (PowerShares DB U.S. Dollar Index Bearish, Expense Ratio 0.80%) sees some action periodically, as the fund has about $53 million in AUM.
