Exchange traded fund managed portfolios, a rising segment of the managed-account space, is breaking out as financial advisors seek out the best ways to grow wealth.

“You’re seeing not only a deeper penetration in existing channels such as advisors, independent broker dealers, RIAs,” Gogerty said, “but you’re also starting to see interest and a wake up call from both wirehouse advisors, private wealth banks and even smaller institutions.”
ETF managed portfolios come in many flavors, offering advisors a variety of investment strategies. Morningstar has developed a system to monitor the universe of ETF managed portfolios, track the performances and categorize the groups.
