Today, YieldMax bolstered its selection of ETFs with the launch of the YieldMax Crypto Industry & Tech Portfolio Option Income ETF (LFGY). YieldMax notes that the fund is the first in its series of Portfolio Option Income ETFs.
The primary goal of LFGY is to generate current income for its investors. Secondarily, the fund looks to offer capital appreciation. This actively managed ETF has a net expense ratio of 0.99%.
As the fund’s title implies, LFGY builds a portfolio that consists of cryptocurrency and technology companies. This includes companies involved in decentralized finance, crypto platforms, blockchain support, and other aspects of digital currency.
To fulfill its investment objective, the ETF may also invest in companies based in foreign countries. This can include firms tied to emerging markets.
The YieldMax Options Strategy
LFGY generates income for its investors through an options strategy. The fund’s portfolio team will write options on the underlying securities within its portfolio. Additionally, LFGY may opt to write options on other crypto and technology ETFs.
Through the use of an options strategy, the ETF may be able to help preserve capital during instances of market downturn. This comes with the added benefit of limited upside participation for the fund’s underlying securities.
Similarly to other YieldMax ETFs, LFGY also holds cash or short-duration U.S. Treasuries. These are used for collateral for the fund’s options strategies, and may also bolster the overall income accrued.
Many market experts are projecting that cryptocurrency and its related companies could see strong gains in 2025. As such, investors may wish to use LFGY to gain exposure to the crypto industry with the added benefit of an options strategy.
YieldMax has more than 35 different ETFs listed on U.S. markets. These funds account for over $8.9 billion in assets under management.
