Ekim, a Paris-based start-up, is looking to alter and enhance the way pizza is made using a pizzaiolo robot. It’s a technology that was usually relegated to factories, but this robotic technology is capable of spreading tomato sauce on the pizza base, place the pizza inside the oven, take a cardboard box and then slice the pizza.
Ekim hopes to utilize this technology with a fully-independent, robotics-run restaurant that can function 24 hours a day. Furthermore, the robot can mimic gestures by human pizzaiolos, capturing the artistry involved in spreading the dough and adding toppings.
