“I’m not going to go after companies that have relied on the Cole memoranda,” Barr said, referring to a DOJ Directive issued by former president Barack Obama’s administration that gave safe-harbor to state-legal marijuana businesses.

“My approach to this would be not to upset settled expectations,” Barr added.
Sessions was an ardent opponent of marijuana legislation, going as far as calling cannabis a “very real danger” and that individuals of the highest ethics “don’t smoke marijuana.”
