Kevin O'Leary: Resist the Urge to Overspend on an Engagement Ring

Now, most would-be grooms aren’t ready to drop $8.8 million on an engagement ring for their beau, but O’Leary offers an alternative.

“Tell your girlfriend/fiancée/soon-to-be wife, when you have the money to invest in a ring, you’ll do that,” said O’Leary. “Or, say to her ‘Would you rather have a new kitchen?’ or ‘Would you like a new car?’ Diamond rings are really expensive.”

Of course, the results will vary as to whether the bride-to-be accepts a kitchen upgrade or new car in lieu of an engagement ring.
