Department store operators, which are represented in XRT, saw in-store sales dip this holiday season, but they made up for it with stellar online sales.
“But Mastercard said department store operators have been performing better online. The group’s e-commerce sales were up 10.2 percent in the run-up to Christmas,” according to ETF Daily News.
XRT, the largest retail ETF by assets, is down nearly 15% year-to-date.
