- Denied Deal – 3,200 Boeing union workers rejected a proposed contract that included a 20% wage increase over four years. The existing contract deadline was Sunday, July 27; however, Boeing workers agreed to a one-week cooling-off period before beginning strikes (source: ABC News).
- Reaching Revenue – Huntington Bancshares Incorporated released its Q2 2025 earnings report, citing a 7.9% loan growth and a 6.4% deposit growth from Q2 2024. Similarly, tangible book value increased by 16% from Q2 2024 (source: Huntington Bancshares Incorporated).
- Tariff Talk – Japan has agreed to a $550 billion investment package in the United States in exchange for lower tariffs on exports (source: Reuters).
- Winning Wintrust – Wintrust Financial Corporation announced a record net income of $384.6 million from January through June 2025 in its Q2 2025 earnings call. Total loans increased by $2.3 billion from Q2 2024, while total deposits increased by $2.2 billion from Q2 2024 (source: Wintrust Financial Corporation).
- Chip Contracts – Tesla has signed a $16.5 billion chip supply deal with Samsung. Samsung’s new chip factory in Texas is expected to produce the chips for Tesla (source: Reuters).
- The Latest Hall of Famers – The 2025 Major League Baseball Hall of Fame Induction included Ichiro Suzuki, CC Sabathia, and Billy Wagner. Dick Allen and Dave Parker were also voted in by the Classic Baseball Era committee (source: Yahoo Sports).
- Data Decline – Between 2004 and 2023, international adoptions to the United States decreased by 94%. In 2004, there were 22,988 recorded international adoptions, and in 2023, there were a mere 1,275 (source: Pew Research Center).
