Additionally, while the equities were trending lower Friday, currency-hedged ETFs that track foreign markets and diminish the negative effects of a strong USD or weaker foreign currencies were strengthening. For instance, the largest Europe hedged ETFs, the WisdomTree Europe Hedged Equity Fund (NYSEArca: HEDJ) and Deutsche X-Trackers MSCI Europe Hedged Equity ETF (NYSEArca: DBEU), were up 0.4% and 0.3% Friday, respectively. The euro currency depreciated 1.3% against the U.S. dollar to $1.074, its lowest since April.

WisdomTree (NasdaqGS: WETF), which offers a suite of currency-hedged equity ETFs, also jumped 3.9% Friday on the prospect that investors would utilize hedged options when investing overseas.
