Joanne Hill Discusses the Rise of Women in ETFs With ETF Trends

ETF Trends Editor Tom Lydon speaks with ProShares’ Head of Investment Strategy Joanne Hill at the Morningstar Investment Conference in Chicago about the rise of women in the investment community. Hill is co-president of Women in ETFs (WE).

WE, which launched in January 2014, has already blossomed to hundreds of members and several regional chapters throughout the U.S. and Europe, including Boston, Chicago, New York and London. WE has taken a more active role in education, and looking ahead, the organization will also help women connect at other events.

Women control about half the wealth in the U.S. and comprise 45% of high net worth investors, according to Hill. However, there is a “mismatch” between the role of women in the asset management industry as just 10% of mutual fund managers are women, said Hill.

Hill also recently the book A Comprehensive Guide to Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs), which is available for free download at the CFA Institute’s web site. The book highlights the evolution of ETFs as an asset class and trading strategies, among other topics.
