Tom Lydon appeared on Yahoo Finance’s Breakout with Jeff Macke to discuss financial services exchange traded funds as earnings reports from the second-largest sector in the S&P 500 started coming in this week. Goldman Sachs Group (NYSE: GS) will round the group on Friday, January 16. Additionally, Morgan Stanley (NYSE: MS) will kick off earnings next week on January 20.
Earnings from the group this week have disappointed investors with some major banks reporting profits were crimped by higher legal and regulatory expenses. The sector, though, could still find strength on an improving economy, expanding jobs and rising spending due to lower gas prices, which could all add to loan growth.
