Most Searched ETFs: More Summertime Blues

VWO and EEM are the two largest emerging markets ETFs by assets and while searches for those funds were clearly healthy this week, investors directed the bulk of their global searches to China ETFs. That helped the iShares China Large-Cap ETF (NYSEArca: FXI) make its first appearance on our most searched list in several weeks.

One global ETF garnered more searches than EEM, FXI and VWO: The db X-trackers Harvest CSI 300 China A-Shares Fund (NYSEArca: ASHR). In months past, that may be something of a surprise, but with Chinese stocks and ETFs on the move higher, investors are looking for new ways to exploit the valuation opportunity.

A-shares such as ASHR are fine ideas for accomplishing that objective due to the deep discount at which the CSI 300 Index trades compared to the broader emerging markets complex. ASHR slightly outpaced FXI last month and while the S&P 500 was busy falling 2.2%, all ASHR did was surge 9.2%. [Behind the A-Shares ETF Rally]
