ETF Chart of the Day: Vicious VIX

“Short” Volatility strategies such as XIV however have hit a major speed-bump here in the short term and this week may be very telling in terms of helping to determine direction for the remainder of 2014.

Two other ETFs that have seen their short term trading volume explode are offerings from ProShares, UVXY (ProShares Ultra VIX Short Term Futures ETF, Expense Ratio 0.95%) and SVXY (ProShares Short VIX Short Term Futures ETF, Expense Ratio 0.95%) and with there being sixteen offerings in the Volatility category at the moment, nearly all of the products have seen some level of attention that is well above the norm in the short term.
