Advisors have the opportunity to track customized exchange traded fund strategies through the growing segment of ETF managed portfolios and rising class of ETF strategists.

ETF Trends’ Tom Lydon recently sat down with BlackRock’s Katharine Earhart, Director, Head of iShares Connect Program, and Sue Thompson, Managing Director, Head of the Registered Investment Advisor Group, to discuss ways small financial firms have expanded, notably in the managed portfolios space.

“There are firms here that are growing at plus 100% per year… BlackRock and iShares, we’ve been by them every step of the way to help them grow,” Thompson said.

The ETF managed portfolio space provides two main strategies: strategic and tactical portfolios. A strategical mix includes assets that are meant to provide incremental returns over the long haul, shifting only to adjust holdings. The tactical approach will show changes based on economic and market developments. [The Evolution of Bespoke ETF Portfolios]

“ETFs are really new and they are exciting, but it is also the opportunity for the strategists to deliver outcome-oriented investments to the end advisor,” Earhart said.
