ETF Spotlight: Mid-Cap Value Stocks | Page 2 of 2 | ETF Trends

The Latest News:

  • Mid-cap stocks have outperformed this year, with the Russell Midcap Index up 5.9% and the S&P 400 Index rising 4.5% year-to-date, reports Jane Edmondson for TheStreet.
  • While mid-cap stocks have shown strong performances over the past year, some argue they are not overvalued, reports Jenna Voigt for FE Trustnet.
  • “I think you’ve got to look down to the individual stocks within the small and mid cap space,” Smith & Williamson’s Tineke Frikkee said in the article. “It is true that they, particularly last year, they had a really good year where maybe the FTSE 100 did 20 per cent and the mid caps and the small caps did 30 per cent. It’s interesting that if you look over the very long time periods, small and mid caps do tend to just grow more and might have a bit more risk. But by and large, their returns are higher.”
  • However, Frikkee warned that earnings need to come through to maintain these lofty expectations.
