Middle East ETFs Could Pullback as BlackRock Reduces Exposure

Stocks in Qatar and UAE have also run-up ahead of the countries’ promotions to emerging markets status. Index provider MSCI will elevate Qatar and UAE to emerging from frontier status in May, leaving FM with increased exposure to Kuwait and Nigeria, among others.

BlackRock’s iShares unit, the world’s largest ETF issuer, has filed plans to possibly introduce the iShares MSCI UAE Capped ETF and iShares MSCI Qatar Capped ETF.
