However, the number of North American ETFs benchmarked to FTSE indices is now north of 110. Impressively, that number has roughly doubled since the end of 2012.

Other notable transitions by ETF providers to FTSE indices in recent months include Direxion moving its leveraged China ETFs to the FTSE China 25 Index, FXI’s underlying index. In April 2013, ProShares, the largest issuer of inverse and leveraged ETFs, moved two leveraged Europe funds to the FTSE Developed Europe Index.  That is the same index tracked by the popular Vanguard FTSE Europe ETF (NYSEArca: VGK).
