For the six months of 2013 the average volume was roughly 60,000 shares a day. Since July 1, the average volume has ballooned to 165,000 shares a day, while on Aug. 2 the ETF’s volume surged to more than 2 million shares, according to WallachBeth.
“We will be monitoring both trading activity in this name as well as shares outstanding,” Hempstead said.
