ETF Chart of the Day: Emerging Markets Sector GEMS | ETF Trends

Recently we have discussed emerging markets equity ETFs to a large extent as this seems to be a “growth area” in the industry as far as new product developments hitting the landscape.

Today we highlight sector focused exchange traded funds from Emerging Global Shares (known as “GEMS”) that allow the portfolio manager to zero in on specific sector exposure in the emerging markets equities space as opposed to purchasing broad based emerging markets funds.

Each fund is based on the Dow Jones Emerging Markets Sector Titans Indexes and the industries represented are defined by the ICB (Industry Classification Benchmark).

Specific funds to note are: EGShares Energy GEMS ETF (NYSEArca: OGEM), EGShares Financials GEMS ETF (NYSEArca: FGEM), EGShares Consumer Goods GEMS ETF (NYSEArca: GGEM), EGShares Technology GEMS ETF (NYSEArca: QGEM), EGShares Basic Materials GEMS ETF (NYSEArca: LGEM), EGShares Industrials GEMS ETF (NYSEArca: IGEM), EGShares Telecom GEMS ETF (NYSEArca: TGEM), EGShares Consumer Services GEMS ETF (NYSEArca: VGEM), EGShares Health Care GEMS ETF (NYSEArca: HGEM) and EGShares Utilities GEMS ETF (NYSEArca: UGEM).
