Exchange traded funds (ETFs) that invest in coal companies were in the spotlight Monday on news Arch Coal (NYSE: ACI) is buying International Coal Group (NYSE: ICO) for $3.4 billion.
International Coal shares surged more than 30% after the deal’s announcement.
Coal and miner ETFs could also see action Monday following quarterly results from Massey Energy (NYSE: MEE).
ETFs tracking the coal sector include Market Vectors Coal ETF (NYSEArca: KOL) and PowerShares Global Coal Portfolio (NasdaqGM: PKOL).
