The iShares Silver Trust (NYSEArca: SLV) was up more than 1% in volatile trading Monday as the metal exchange traded fund (ETF) was on track to break its one-day volume record.
More than 125 million shares of the silver ETF had traded in early-afternoon dealings Monday. Its volume record is about 149 million shares, which was recorded on November 9, 2010.
The silver ETF touched $47 a share in Monday’s session, an all-time high.
