This year has been a big one for exchange traded funds (ETFs): the industry has seen exciting new launches and solid asset inflows – remarkable in light of the economic downturn.

The economy is going to turn around sometime soon, and the experts differ on exactly when this will happen. But there’s money on the sidelines, and it’s poised to flow into the ETF industry when investors are ready to get back in. Why not take the time to learn a little more about ETFs by attending a conference? You’ll meet the best and brightest minds in the industry while learning about strategies that can help you make the most of your portfolio.

Conferences Within the United States

The 13th Annual Super Bowl of Indexing will be from Dec. 7-10 at the Arizona Biltmore Resort & Spa in Phoenix, AZ. The event will have more than 800 investment professionals attending this year, as it’s the annual meeting for the indexing industry attended by nearly the entire marketplace.

2nd Annual Inside ETFs Conference will be held Jan. 11-13, 2009, at the Boca Raton Resort & Club in Boca Raton, FL. The Inside ETFs conference focuses on the needs of financial advisors, and last year’s conference was a success, with more than 400 people in attendance. This year’s conference promises to be even bigger.

ETFs and Indexing AssemblyThe 4th ETF & Indexing Assembly will take place Jan. 28-29, 2009, in New York City. Finance IQ’s 4th ETF and Indexing Assembly conference creates dynamic forum for learning and networking; bringing together leading industry insiders to debate the most pressing market issues, including becoming a better investor: access well built indices; Gain insight into promising, and not so promising, new ETF products; and prepare for consolidation in the market while avoiding excessive costs and taxes. Scheduled speakers include: Lloyd Raines, First Vice President, RBC Wealth Management; Marvin Appel, CEO, Appel Asset Management Corp.; Joseph Witthohn, CFA, Director of ETF Research, Janney Montgomery Scott LLC; Ted Theodore, CFA, Chairman & Chief Investment Officer, Avatar Associates; and Herb Morgan, CIO, Efficient Market Advisors LLC.

The 9th Annual U.S. World Series of ETFs – Southeast will take place in March 30-31, 2009, in Miami, FL. The conference will feature the world’s top experts in developing and trading ETFs, including index providers, asset managers, distributors, market makers, specialists and researchers.

The 8th Annual Closed-End Funds and Global ETFs Forum will be held in New York City on April 29, 2009. The event was designed with financial industry professionals in mind to give them exposure to sophisticated, institutional-grade strategies they can use to benefit their clients.

The Financial Advisor Symposium will take place in Las Vegas from April 29-May 1, 2009, at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas. A series of panels and workshops will provide attendees with the newest and most successful tools and strategies to manage money for themselves and their clients.

The 2nd Annual U.S. World Series of ETFs – Northeast will be held in late April/early May, 2009. We’ll post location and date details as they become available. The day-and-a-half program covers a number of topics, including strategies, new products, taxes and tracking error.
