ETFs Won't Come Close to the Limit in 2008 | ETF Trends

It’s that time of year: everyone is making their exchange traded fund (ETF) predictions. We’ve made ours, and now we take a look at someone else’s.

Scott Burns of the Universal Press Syndicate agrees with us in his tongue-in-cheek list of predictions: the number of ETFs available will continue to soar well past the more than 700 available worldwide. For example, ETFs for many states may be created (they’re in registration with the SEC as we write). He also predicts that ETF providers will realize they’ve exhausted all possibilities as they consider an ETF that tracks an index of corporations with reasonably compensated CEOs.

We think that’s about as likely as the Great Wall of China being moved to Arizona — there’s a long way to go before ETFs have been explored from all angles, and we welcome the ever-expanding world of choices.
