Intellectural Property ETF Launch Very Innovative | ETF Trends

Claymore Securities announced they have seven new exchange traded funds (ETFs) listed on the American stock exchange. This brings their U.S. listed fund family to 18. The press release states that in this recent launch are the first growth & income index ETF, the first consensus research index ETF and the first patent-value growth index ETF. The ETFs are:

  • Claymore/BIR Leaders 50 (BST)
  • Claymore Ocean Tomo Growth Index (OTR)
  • Claymore/Zacks Growth & Income Index (CZG)
  • Claymore/BIR Leaders Mid-Cap Value (BMV)
  • Claymore/BIR Leaders Small-Cap Core (BES)
  • Claymore/Great Companies Large-Cap Growth Income (XGC)
  • Claymore/Zacks Mid-Cap Core (CZA)

OTR is the first intellectual property ETF and is quite an innovative product.  The selection process is to identify six companies in each of ten market capitalization deciles with the highest price-to-book ratio from the universe of companies that are members of the Ocean Tomo 300 Patent Index.  The resulting 60 companies form the index.  The index is market cap weighted, with a maximum exposure to any individual stock capped at 15%
