ETF Wave Looks Swell | ETF Trends

The exchange traded fund (ETF) wave keeps building momentum. It peaked at $400 billion in November, with total assets around $407 billion, up 34.8% for the year. Where are investors are putting their money?  About $5.6 billion flowed into international products, $3.8 billion into style ETFs (ETFs that are value or growth bent) and size-based ETFs (ETFs that are micro, small, mid or large cap).

Assets in sector growth had a modest session as materials, technologies and REIT ETFs the categories with positive asset flows. The largest ETF with the most dollar volume is S&P 500 SPDR (SPY). So far, the total number of ETFs trading in the U.S. is 344, and several more are in registration, reports Jen Ryan for The Street.com. The ETF forecast is looking swell.
