ETFs Give Global Options | ETF Trends

It wasn’t long ago that only fund managers had access to investing in global markets, but exchange traded funds have changed that.  Individual investors can use ETFs to diversify their portfolio across the globe.  John Christy of Forbes looks at the myriad of choices investors have, but you still need to do your research.

Just like with any other investment, it’s important to make sure the ETF fits with your portfolio strategy.  While iShares MSCI Belgium (EWK) has been performing well (up 24% year-to-date), it does have a 57% weighting in financial services, although this is a sector that has been performing well too.  If you already have a portfolio heavy in financial services, you may want to review whether this ETF is right for your portfolio or not.
