ETF Trends - Vanguard Name Change | ETF Trends

What’s in a name?  Apparently Vanguard thinks so.  As exchange traded funds become popular, Vanguard is dropping "Vipers" to be known as ETFs.  Vipers is an acronym for "Vanguard Index Participation Equity Receipts".  It is believed they are dropping the name as they prepare to roll out bond ETFs.  The "equity receipts" would be misleading with a bond ETF.  The ETFs will continue to have their ticker symbols.
