It took a year to get through SEC review, but on Friday, Barclays launched a new commodity exchange traded fund. iShares GSCI Commodity Index Trust (GSG) has assets consisting of a pool of commodity and energy products. Oil makes up 46% of the ETF and non-energy based commodities make up 26%. Some commodities included in the ETF are copper, sugar, live cattle, soybeans, cocoa and wheat.
