Not only were the markets down, but Investment News reports there was a decline in assets of all exchange traded funds in May. The Investment Company Institute said ETFs declined 3%. However, assets have increased since May 2005 by 36%. Domestic ETFs increased $36 billion and global ETFs were up $46 billion.
