Advisors have more choices than ever when allocating client portfolios. The key question though is, "Is this right for my client?" Individual stocks, bonds, mutual funds, wrap  accounts, separately managed accounts (SMAs) and now exchange traded funds (ETFs) all have their pros and cons.

We assisted in the cover story of the newly released issue of Financial Planning Magazine, which addresses this question. ETFs are getting a lot of attention for all of the right reasons. Most importantly, the article emphasizes that advisors will have to continue to work hard to earn their fees by providing performance and service for the right price.
