Congress Supports ETF Expansion | ETF Trends

The Investment Company Institute sent out a memo today regarding a letter from the Chariman of the Subcommittee on Capital Markets, Insurance and Government Sponsored Enterprises, Richard H. Baker, to the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The letter addresses delays in the approval of ETF registrations.  These delays can disrupt the market, as ETF providers may be discouraged from creating ETF products investors seek.  Another possible outcome is that the products may be introduced in other markets such as Europe and Asia.  The letter also offers suggestions for possible improvements to the SEC’s approval process.
