ETF Assets Top $300 Billion | ETF Trends

Marketwatch and The Investment Company Institute (ICI) reported that the combined assets of the 201 ETFs listed on domestic exchanges stood
at $312.79 billion, up from $296.02 billion the previous month.

At the end of 2002, there were 113 ETFs in the United States with about
$102.14 billion in assets. Since that time, ETF
assets have more than tripled and the number of funds has nearly
doubled.

Last month, assets of U.S. stock ETFs gained $6.79 billion, while
international-equity funds added $9.35 billion. Bond-index ETFs saw
assets grow by $636 million.
Meanwhile, the value of all ETF shares issued exceeded that of shares redeemed by $2.87 billion, according to the ICI.

At the end of January, there were 146 domestic-stock ETFs holding
$222.6 billon and 49 international funds with $74.56 billion. Six bond
ETFs housed $15.64 billion.
