ETFs Keep Rolling Into 2006 | ETF Trends

Today Morningstar released its ETF Year in Review. In addition to a cursory performance summary, Dan Culloton does a decent job of outlining major events in the ETF space in 2005. For example:

  • Barclays’ announced it would move its iShares’ primary listings from the American Stock Exchange to the New York Stock Exchange and the Archipelago Exchange.
  • Standard & Poor’s adopted new style index modeling.
  • Fidelity and Vanguard dropped management fees on their top index funds in hopes of competing with ETFs.
  • ETFs are on a "faster track" coming to market.
