ETF Espresso: Stock, Commodity ETFs Higher

Equity and precious metal exchange traded funds were set for big gains Tuesday as investors embraced risk and stocks continued their strong run to open the year on hopes Europe’s debt problems are in check.

SPDR Dow Jones Industrial Average ETF (NYSEArca: DIA) rose 1.1% while Dow futures gained more than 100 points before the U.S. opening bell. [ETF Spotlight: U.S. Growth Stocks]

In metals ETFs, SPDR Gold Shares (NYSEArca: GLD) rose nearly 2% and iShares Silver Trust (NYSEArca: SLV) jumped about 4% in preopen trading.

In global stocks, China ETFs remain strong along with commodities. [China ETFs: Finally Bottoming?]

U.S. Oil Fund (NYSEArca: USO) added 1.8% with crude futures trading above $103 a barrel.
