WisdomTree to Shutter 8 ETFs | ETF Trends

WisdomTree Investments, Inc. (NASDAQ: WETF), the seventh-largest U.S. exchange traded funds issuer, said it is closing eight of its ETFs.

“The ETFs will no longer accept creation orders after Thursday, March 14, 2019. The final day of trading on the ETFs’ respective exchanges will also be Thursday, March 14, 2019.

Shareholders who do not sell their ETF shares by this date will have their shares automatically redeemed for cash based on each ETF’s net asset value (NAV), which is expected to be provided to shareholders through their brokers or other financial intermediaries on or around Monday, March 25, 2019, following the last day of operations, which is expected to be Friday, March 22, 2019,” according to a statement from New York-based WisdomTree.

WisdomTree is closing the following eight ETFs: WisdomTree Asia Local Debt Fund (NYSEArca: ALD), WisdomTree Australia Dividend Fund (NYSEArca: AUSE), WisdomTree Brazilian Real Strategy ETF (NYSEArca: BZF), WisdomTree Japan Hedged Financials Fund (NYSEArca: DXJF), WisdomTree Europe Domestic Economy Fund (CBOE: EDOM), WisdomTree Europe Domestic Economy Fund (CBOE: GSD), WisdomTree Global SmallCap Dividend Fund (CBOE: HGSD) and the WisdomTree Japan Hedged Dividend Growth Fund (NYSEArca: JHDG).

Last year, a record 186 ETFs were closed, topping the 134 ETFs that were shuttered in 2017. However, 326 new ETFs came to market last year.

WisdomTree had $37.81 billion in assets under management as of Wednesday, Feb. 12.
