Lydon said he was honored to make the list, adding “ETF education has become critically important for advisors today. We’re happy to helped out in a small way.”

With more than 30 years’ experience in asset management, Lydon began his career with Fidelity Investments Institutional Division prior to launching Global Trends Investments and ETF Trends.

Lydon is a frequent guest on CNBC, Fox Business, Bloomberg and Yahoo Finance to discuss ETFs and latest market trends.

ETF Trends is the global leader in education ETF webinars. Each year, Lydon moderates more than 70 financial advisor webcasts.

Lydon is the mastermind behind the annual ETF Trends Virtual Summit and upcoming Disruptive ETF Technology Summit, which brings together thousands of advisors each year in an online environment.

Investopedia editor Caleb Silver said the Investopedia 100 seeks to measure influence.

“We have endeavored to quantify the impact that our advisors have on their clients and the broader financial community,” Silver said. “Influence isn’t about being popular. It’s about helping others, although being popular helps if one’s popularity is tied to the mission of educating investors.”

Silver said its teams also measured and created a matrix of influence to see which advisors followed one-another across social platforms.

“The more followers an advisor has within the community, the higher their score,” he said. “We weighed all of these factors appropriately in order to determine our final ranking.”

The application was open to all U.S.-based financial advisors.
