Jobs Report will Headline Fourth of July Week

Yahoo! Finance recapped the first half of a volatile 2018 that got rocked in a fracas of trade disputes between the United States, China and the European Union. Now it appears that Canada has decided to partake in the tariff battle royal to start the second half of 2018.

Fourth of July week in the markets will be headlined by a Friday jobs report that is expected to show sustained growth and a low unemployment rate. In addition, here is what is expected for the markets this week:

  • Monday: Markit U.S. manufacturing PMI, June; ISM manufacturing PMI, June
  • Tuesday: Factory orders, May; Auto sales, June
    Wednesday: Markets closed for July 4th holiday
  • Thursday: ADP private payrolls, June (; Initial jobless claims; Markit U.S. services PMI, June ; ISM non-manufacturing PMI, June ; FOMC Minutes, June 13 meeting
  • Friday: Nonfarm payrolls, June; Unemployment rate, June; Average hourly earnings, month-on-month, June ; Average hourly earnings, year-on-year, June; Trade balance, May
