Delta Air Lines may have not outperformed forecasts by a wide margin, but it did so despite facing numerous questions regarding its profitability, particularly with respect to rising fuel costs. Consensus estimates for Delta’s third quarter call for an earnings per share figure of $1.83, but Delta isn’t so optimistic with a forecast of $1.65 to $1.83. per share.
“Delta’s unit revenue outlook will be important as investors continue to worry about the industry’s ability to raise ticket prices to cover rising jet fuel prices,” said Cowen analyst Helane Becker.
