In the meantime, Aramco will forge on with its conventional and unconventional gas exploration and production program. Nasser said that investing in the U.S. gas and petrochemical sector has become “very lucrative” as a result of its large ethane resources.

“In gas we will be one of the main global players,” Nasser added.

Aramco plans to boost its gas production to 23 billion standard cubic feet per day over the next 10 years, from its current 14 billion scf.

GASL was down 5.28 percent on Wednesday, but is up close to 40 percent thus far in 2019.
