The four panelists were Christian Magoon, Founder & CEO of Amplify ETFs; Mohannad Aama, Portfolio Manager & Asset Allocation Strategist for Beam Capital Management; Ross Gerber, President & CEO of Gerber Kawasaki Wealth and Investment; and Gregory Banner, President of Asset Preservation Strategies, Inc.
During the panel discussion, Lydon referenced a poll of financial advisors that had attended a Bitwise webcast earlier in the day that was moderated by Matt Hougan, formerly of ETF.com.
Lydon said of the financial advisors polled, 80.6% responded ‘yes’ that clients had asked them about crypto in the past year.
To the follow-up question, “Are you planning to make an allocation to crypto in client accounts within the next 12 months?,” Lydon said 51.8% responded ‘Possibly: I’ve been investigating crypto seriously,’ 29.1% responded ‘No Chance: I’m just here out of curiosity,’ 10.9% responded ‘Probably: I’ve been investigating crypto seriously’ and 8.2% responded ‘Definitely: I’m in the final stages of due diligence and/or waiting for the right time.’
During the lively panel, the participants discussed how they are educating clients on this topic and shared their views on the crypto space.
The panelists also discussed the differences between cryptocurrencies and blockchain – and investing opportunities for both in the years ahead.
