After a multi-year bull market and the recent post-election bump, U.S. markets are hovering near record highs and valuations are stretched. Exchange traded fund investors, though, can turn to overseas markets where opportunities appear much more attractive, despite risks like geopolitical uncertainties.

On the upcoming Tuesday July 11 webcast (available for CE Credit), ‘CARPe Diem’ Tactical & Strategic Positions Outside the U.S., Jared Rowley, Senior Investment Strategist at SPDR ETFs State Street Global Advisors, David Garff, President and Chief Investment Officer of Accuvest Global Advisors, and Joe Mallen, Chief Investment Officer at Helios Quantitative Research, will consider tactical and strategic positions outside the U.S. to focus on capital appreciation at a reasonable price, or “CARP.”

For instance, investors can gain broad market exposure to the growing developing economies through something like the SPDR S&P Emerging Markets ETF (NYSEArca:GMM) or target opportunities through country-specific ETFs like the SPDR MSCI China A Shares IMI ETF (NYSEArca:XINA).

European equities have also been attracting greater attention as a investors grow weary of a slowing bull market in potentially overvalued U.S. equities. Consequently, some have turned to Eurozone related ETFs, such as the SPDR EURO STOXX 50 Currency Hedged ETF (NYSEArca: HFEZ) and the non-hedged version SPDR EURO STOXX 50 (NYSEArca:FEZ).

For even broader market exposure, investors may consider SPDR S&P World ex-US ETF (NYSEArca:GWL), which provides a convenient way to gain worldwide exposure to developed markets outside the U.S. Additionally, the SPDR MSCI ACWI ex-US ETF (NYSEArca:CWI) can help investors access virtually all developed and emerging market countries outside the U.S.

As the ETF industry grows, investors are also able to find a diverse set of multi-factor ETF strategies to choose from. For instance, State Street Global Advisors offers a suite of MSCI StrategicFactors ETFs, including broad options like the SPDR MSCI EAFE StrategicFactors ETF (NYSEArca:QEFA), SPDR MSCI Emerging Markets StrategicFactors ETF (NYSEArca:QEMM) and SPDR MSCI World StrategicFactors ETF (NYSEArca:QWLD). The SPDR strategic factor suite select components based on a combination of three market factors, including value, quality and low volatility.
