According to a Bank of the West survey of over 600 millennials (ages 21-34), roughly 4 in 10 millennials are already homeowners. Yet, with such a considerable number of millennials buying homes throughout the country, many face buyer’s remorse due to mistakes made during the process.

Real estate agent Dana Bull appeared on CNBC’s “Make It” to share what she believes is the biggest mistake a millennial home buyer makes when buying a home: purchasing a brand new “starter castle” instead of considering a fixer-upper. Bull says that with a fixer-upper, home buyers have many financial benefits after improving the property themselves.

“There’s no right or wrong answers, it’s just about knowing all the different options,” says Bull.
