Bearish traders can utilize inverse silver ETF options to play the fall. More aggressive traders can take a look at the VelocityShares 3x Inverse Silver ETN (NYSEArca: DSLV), which takes the -300% performance of silver, and the ProShares UltraShort Silver (NYSEArca: ZSL), which takes the -200% performance of silver price movements.
Amid falling supply, being bearish on silver ETFs is a risky bet.
“In what would represent the first reduction in global silver mine production since 2002, mining output is projected to fall by as much as 5% year-on-year in 2016, according to the Silver Institute. Scrap supply is also expected to shrink in 2016. It has been on the decline for the last several years. Overall, the Silver market deficit is expected to widen in 2016 due to increased demand and shrinking supply,” adds Seeking Alpha.
